Well, it's the second DI, not the first. Just scoured through the PO's receipts, and it was a warranty replacement back in 97. I was hoping it was an extended life DI that went 152k miles, but no...
Might have gone longer, but some blame might be laid at the plugs being well worn; when I pulled them out to run a spark check, they were pretty well cupped on the side electrodes, so the gap was probably out of spec. Didn't have a gapper on hand, so I just gapped them closer by eye with my Leatherman until I got home to replace the plugs- wanted to relieve the extra stress on my other DI cassette. 35k too long to go between checking the plugs- have to keep better track of things..
