Strange coolant fan set-up

When it rains, it pours. It seems like everything is going at once on my '95 9000 Aero. This weeks episode is the coolant fan decided to seize up. An easy repair, but one more time in the shop. When diagnosing the problem I discovered that my cooling fan set up is completely different than it is supposed to be (at least according to the setup on quasimotors.com. I have no low speed gold resistor and no temperature sensor mounted on the radiator. The hole is there for it, but no sensor. Also, in the engine compartment fuse box, most of the fan relays/switches are empty. The only one with anything in it is a 40 amp fuse in the "high speed fan" spot. This fuse blew when the fan seized up. When I replaced it, the fan just smoked, so I pulled that fuse again until I replace the fan. Has anybody else seen this set up? No relays, resistors or sensors? The car came from Canada - maybe that has something to do with it. Maybe because it is an Aero?
