I would definately get it checked out. I had the same thing happen to me, but it was a subaru outback. The rear bumper of my 94 9000 was pushed about 1.5 to 2". It didn't really look like a big deal, other than the bumper cover being deformed a little, and some scratches, but there was actually alot more damage that was apparent. I first noticed it when the fuel filler door wouldn't lock any more, and the hatch had to be shut w/ more force to close. The rear crumple zones in the frame had started to deform as they are supose to and pulled the rear of the body down and in. Not noticeable by looking at the car, but it was about $3800 worth of damage to get it all pulled back to where it belonged.
