The little push button on the inside of the door sill is not what the car uses to detect open doors on the dash. The button only activates the lights on the doors, the dome, and the ding sound when the key is in the ignition.

I have the same problem with a light on my dash from a back door indicating it is open when it is clearly shut. I also swapped a door sill button from another car, but that didn't affect it for me either. I have yet to fix it, but I determined through elimination that the problem in my car comes from the door latch itself. The weather stripping is too thick or something like that. For me to remedy the situation I have to push against the door once or twice good and hard after closing the door to make the light on the dash go away.

Saab 9000's can have the alarm arm with any door open except for the drivers door itself, that one absolutely must be shut for the alarm to arm. Since you not only have the door ajar light but get the alarm to go off I would suggest having the latch assembly and both the inside and outside driver door handle on your car checked.

The problem could come from the sensor inside the door latch, from a loose latch, from a bad wire that connects something from the door to the alarm or the door lock circuit board, maybe even a bad lock actuator. But the best suggestion is to have a professional open up your door and check for problems in the handle and the latch.
