...probably your PCV nipple grommet has let go, on your valve cover, or else one or both of the hoses attached thereto has come off. This allows crankcase vapors to escape, perfuming the air with their oily essence.
Have a look on top of your engine -- looking from the front of your car, on the left side on the back side of the black metal top portion. There you'll find a plastic protrusion stuck into a rubber grommet (or popped out of it). This is the PCV valve. If it's popped out, you should replace the rubber grommet (see your dealer).
There should be two rubber hoses connected to the valve. It's quite common for the smaller of the two hoses to get old and break, or to become slimy and slip off.
If you find the hose has come off, head to your Saab dealer and get six or so feet of what's called Eco hose, and replace as necessary. Don't use run-of-the-mill vacuum hose, because it will eventually become soft and slimy after exposure to the oil vapors, and slip off again.
On the power steering, you could try flushing the power steering fluid, and refill with GM compatible power steering fluid, NOT ATF as many parts places will erroneously recommend. Might alleviate the symptoms or might not. You may have to live with the noise; if it's bad enough, you might need to replace the power steering pump.
