though I've converted to automatic and would say that the 4-speed non-electronic auto tranmission in the 9000 is a great match for the turbo engine. I have a more "sophisticated" auto box in my Mercedes van and hate the way it tries to out-think me, staying in the wrong gear where in the Saab I can just change at will on the throttle pedal. The manual change isn't all that special and you may end up glad you gave in over this.

I don't live in the US but have an idea Ed N's post (above) more or less nails it on the price. May I suggest you try the car to see if you like the overall package, then spend a while finding one with a really nice spec (like the sunroof, or whatever takes your fancy) at a really tasty price? Your initial question was "is this a good bargain" and on the face of it the answer is "No", but if you get hooked on these cars you should really enjoy owning the right one.

So, what is the "right one"? Would personally go for a 96 to 98 car, probably a CSE (more power and higher spec), lowish mileage, full service records. The Anniversary model is prettier, an Aero might be more than you need/want but do have lovely seats. However, a 2.3 CSE is very nice and anything can be gradually upgraded via Fleabay.
