If you're any good with tools and have some time, you can save yourself about $300 by replacing the pump itself rather than the whole unit. I managed to get a brand new pump with a two year warranty for about $120 after tax. Nobody in my town had plastic fuel line, which is prone to breaking, so I had to order it off of eEuroparts. You have to have a lot of patience. Don't rush because if any of the plastic parts break on the pump unit, it is very hard to permanently repair them. The lines that run from the pump itself to the inlet/outlet ports are very fragile and you pretty much can't disassemble the unit without cutting or breaking them. It's always good to have spare fuel line on hand anyway. Like SWEDECAR said the plastic valves on top are almost impossible to remove without breaking them. eEuroparts.com has both valves and fuel line in one foot lenghts for a good price. In all it cost me about $150 and four hours worth of work. It was worth it to save $300, not including labor costs.
