it died in Nov 05. eEuro replaced it under warranty. That one died in April 06, which eEuro replaced (I had bought it before their new policy was in effect), but they did have me send them a photo of my engine bay and the VIN. The new one has been fine so far.
While I'm sure intake mods can affect the longevity of this part, I also suspect that having 2 die on my stock intake system in the space of 12 months (plus anecdotal evidence from TSN) means there could be some kind of manufacturing issue. Maybe it was just a bad lot... who knows. And from the manufacturer's POV (thought to be Bosch), it's always easier to blame the customer.
I don't have a complaint with eEuro, but I'd love to know what's really up with this part and why it seems so failure prone.
We probably don't have the most accurate reading on it here. We're all Saab-heads who tend to be hyper-conscious about our rides and most of us are technically savvy enough to dig into stuff. Most Saab owners are not like that, so we don't have a good take on the real-world failure rate of the BPC. For example, I know a guy who is on his 3rd 9K. He rebuilds old Brit sports cars as a hobby but never opens the hood on his Saab. Just takes it to his indy (same one I use). He doesn't even know how the turbo system works and never gets into the boost. So he might never know his BPC is dead, even if it was. Is his BPC okay? Who knows?
