Light mods bring new question... Posted by vtsnaab [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() |
My one enduring complaint about my otherwise wonderful '91 9KT has
been the headlights; even with really good Hella bulbs they are still
rather dim and poorly focused.
I came up with an improvement which is satisfying - adding auxiliary
lights, nice, but inexpensive ones from Autozone.
The ones I got are small, have replaceable bulbs, and aim really well.
Only problem was figuring out how and where to mount them, which was
solved by my indie's suggestion of above the bumper at the corners of
the grill, with handmade brackets...which is perfect, and by reusing
(otherwise useless) fog light wiring it got done in jig time.
Now I can see where I am going, for real !
One lingering problem though:
These added lights go off just as the fog lights did, when high beams
are in use, and that is not what I want.
My question:
Is there a sort of trigger connection to a relay that I could remove
to allow these lights to stay on during high beam use ?
(Or perhaps a different connection needs to be added ?)
I would really prefer to use the car's own wiring than to add the
toggle switch and such that came with the lights, if at all possible.
Thanks,
mark
