...followed these threads a couple of years back when my driver's side packed up. Checked all over back and seat pads initially to find a break / scorch mark, but the failure actually turned out to be the cable connecting the back and seat pads together tha had finally given way after years of rubbing against the side section of the semi-circular wire frame of the seat base (Aero seats). Joined the two parts with a plastic connector black which when installed protected the cable from rubbing ever again.

Thought it had happened again last year, took the seat out, took the base cover off, only to discover that the plug underneath the seat providing power had worked loose doh....that connection is also used to light the seatbelt-off warning light above your head - if that stays off, you may have found the problem.
