I went with Klight (said to be German engineered/ Asian assembled...who really knows?). 1987 SPG has 8000K bulbs in E-code housings. I ran standard 55W H-4s in my E-codes prior to installing HID conversion; I find the HIDs brighter and have noticed no major beam pattern variances compared to H-4s. Whereas my 55W H-4s melted two sets of bulb plugs, I have had no such issue with the HIDs. As for blinding oncoming traffic, proper aiming resolved that matter in my case. Granted a 1987 900 looks a little odd with HID lighting, but night time visibility is much improved and worth it to me.
The 1994 Aero has 6000K bulbs in USDOT housings. Again, I find them much brighter than the 9006s they replaced. My Aero's mechanical inspection (head lights aimed) was done just prior the lighting upgrade, and I found it was not necessary to adjust them after the conversion. Aesthetically, HIDs look much more "at home" on the nose of the Aero than on the SPG, but that's just MHO.
I considered doing the Aero's fog lights, but I have questions regarding the focal point matching due to H-3 filaments running laterally in bulb. Anyone replaced H-3s with HIDs? If so, how do they compare/contrast?
