I have both a 94 and a 96. both 5 speed, both black. the 94 does have TCS and the 96 does not. the 96 does have the mentioned cup holders in the rear seat arm rest and the pockets on the front seats. Also the 96 has the full on wood dash treatment, the 94 is the plain plastic.
All in all I'd say they are the same, both excellent cars. TCS has rarely been an issue on the 94. the cup holders are something I've always wanted on my 92 9000CDT's, but since I'm normally the *driver* it doesn't add or subtract from my enjoyment of the cars.
Basically they both kick serious ass...
