Jeff! Try by-passing the pressure switch on the air conditioning receiver by pulling the plug off the receiver and placing a jumper wire to kick on the compessor. I don't know off-hand which wires to jump, but you can check with electronic meter for 12v supply and look at the compressor for which wire color leads to the plug > compressor. Do this with engine running and A/C set to full on.. Once you can trip the compressor on , turn engine off and setup recharge can. Start the engine > trip compressor ON > start filling feon line. This problem happened with a friends car where the freon wouldn't kick-in the pressure switch until we JUMPED the compressor ON. Thisalound the recharge can to empty into the system. I can only hop this works for you!!!
