Sorry yeofang, I should be careful with my terms :-)
The Pulley spins very freely and with no noise at all.
What I was trying to establish (bearing in mind that the serp belt does not run round the sanden), was if the Sanden compressor was OK by gripping the clutch (ie not the pulley but the clutch on the end of the compressor)and trying to turn it by hand.
I can do this on the Seikos and it just seemed a bit harder to turn the clutch on the Sanden by hand, although the clutch does turn so it is not seized. I don't know if the Sanden is typically stiffer to turn by hand compared to the Seiko or if my Sanden is just toast.
If anyone else has a Sanden, could you try and turn the clutch by hand, does it move but is quite stiff? (I should say don't try this with the engine running shuldn't I? - and also if your hair is long, don't let it fall into the radiator fan of a hot engine in case the fan comes on etc etc...sigh):-)
Thanks guys
Andy (West London)
