The seiko felt easier to turn from static and free-er to carry on turning once in motion than the Sanden - less than half the effort to turn the Seiko I would guesstimate. Neither were overly stiff or felt uneven in any way.
Other factors that may be relevant - The Seiko is 13+ years old and car has done (only) ~118k miles, but _may_ be low on gas because the compressor gives up after sitting in traffic for a while - starts to work again once I'm back on the move - measured clutch gap at 12thou so that's not it (I removed a shim 5ish years ago when it was doing the same thing - other than that I've not had to do anything to the AC at all - until now I guess). The Sanden is 10 years old and car has done ~180k miles - also had a recharge last May.
Hope this helps.
