exhaust leaks on a turbo engine are radicaly different than on a N/A engine. The entire exhaust mani is pressurized under boost, evening out the pulses. a N/A car with a exh mani leak does sound like a mac-10, or a truck, but a turbo will not.
my whistle is more pronounced when cold, is only under boost, and does not change much in pitch. it does change in time (as it gets worse) it does not change pitch with RPM or load.
i suspect that if the car wasn't a turbo, it wouldn't leak at all. nothing like a turbo to get your backpressure up!
