Resolution of problem Posted by Bill Homer [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: Test for bad strut bearing?, Simon S, Sun, 12 Aug 2007 08:56:03 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Knowing that these parts are 14 years old and have 157,000 miles on them, I bought a new strut and strut bearing (other side was replaced due to collision damage), and took the old ones out of the car to take to a shop to change the spring. To my suprise, the steering knuckle creaked. Removed the tie rod end, so all that was left in contact was the ball joint - and that's what is creaking.
This is a real suprise, as the ball joint is less than three years old, a genuine TRW/Moog part (SAAB OEM supplier). Hopefully, a new one will fix the problem. I guess that my grease spray test is not valid.
