I tried the rustoleum stuff a couple years back and didn't have any better results than rust-mort. Right now I've got a couple of test patches on my toyota pickup doors. I ground out 90% of the surface rust and did two naval jelly treatments. I coated one area with WEST system epoxy and primed and topcoated the other with Rustoleum primer and Leather Brown. The epoxy treatment has a neat "tiedye" look with the gloss over distressed metal. Since it will degrade with UV I have to topcoat it at some point but I'm watching the shiny and black sections to see where rust might start. I've got a month or so to come up with a system to touch up the fleet for the winter.
I read a little in a book on marine corrosion that the purpose of paint is to block galvanic currents.
