and they came with very slim runners that kept everything very low – the seat was skinny too, though extremely comfortable.
One problem with any sports seat is getting in and out can be harder. Same goes for the Aero seats, by the way. At least the 9000 has sensible A-pillars and front doors/windows that don't slope the way many modern cars' do, so you can get your head in without cracking it open.
Saab used to make a different spring base for the 9000 front seats to sit you lower but I'm pretty sure it's not available anymore.
The manual seat idea is a really good one but make absolutely sure the seat is going right down – the adjustment mechanism can fail and prevent this happening.
Finally, the sun visors on new-shape cars come down too far for my taste, the wheel obscures the indicator lishts and the top of the speedo, and the factory sunroof robs headroom (well worth it in that case, IMHO). I'm about 6' 2" and 210 lbs but have a long back. I don't use the last notch of rearward adjustment and I have the seat fairly upright.
I have a friend who's your height and build, plus his knees are wrecked, and he drives a W124 Mercedes E-class.
