If they are cared for properly, they can easily last for 200k+ miles. If the PO of the car didn't change the fluid regularly and treated the tranny like crap, then don't expect it to last much more than 100k miles.
My car is approaching 170k miles on the original auto, and it shifts as if it had 0 miles on it. I have owned the car for the last 55k miles, and have flushed the fluid every 10k miles. It usually looks pretty good when it's drained. I also never do any jackrabbit starts, try not to downshift at full throttle, and ease up on the gas when it's shifting.
Yes, the transmission isn't as reliable as the auto in the NG900/9-3/9-5, but with proper care, it can last a good, long time. There's nothing more fun than the point-and-squirt of an auto Saab turbo!
