Use some fresh 10/30w regular oil. Definitely DO NOT use any additive like "Lucas" brand gear lube as this applies too much hydrostatic pressure to the bearings and will finish your trans. Ask me how I know! Also, you can't rebuild a exploded trans. There is a few sites that give step by step procedures of how to rebuild. There are some parts like a "Crush" sleeve that you also have to replace. Some of the adjustment torque's have to be prefect to do the job correctly and if you get it wrong, out come the transmission again. Start looking for a replacement or get your old one rebuilt. I can do quite a bit of major work on all my Saabs but, transmissions will have to be given to the pros. This site seems to recommend Erickson re-builders. When mine went it started with a little whine and then wham!!!, the two front tries locked-up. I didn't blow the trans. due to only going around 40 mpg. I still have the trans. and plan to someday have Erickson's rebuid it. I also have a good spare from a 87/9000s. I know the gear ratio is different than the 87/9000 turbo model but, I think it can still bolt right-up to the turbo engine. I plan on having my 87/9000 turbo until I can no longer drive. I wish Saab would bring back the old early 9000. I would buy one in a second. Good Luck!
