Gene, thanks for the reply: here's the scoop.. Posted by Kevin M [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: Have to add that smoke is most noticable at idle.., Gene N ![]() ![]() |
The first post has the dry/wet numbers- about a 25 point increase in the wet.
Head was pressure tested, etc when rebuilt.
I believe that the only return for oil delivered to the valve train is via two ways: Timing chain cover route drains to the sump as well as a passage on the flywheel end.
The smoke is blue- oil and smells as such.
I still have not performed my leak-down test, but I have the manifold ready to go.
I have to have my wife follow me and just observe on decelleration and various throttle movements.
But the thing really smokes bad when first started up in the A.M.- not at the initial crank, but after backing out the drive then when just start moving.
I am just really puzzled by the compression numbers. Initially, I changed out the turbo because I thought the seal was going. So, now I just about conviced myself that the rings have to be the source.
If anyone can shed more light on this matter, I would be most appreciative.
K
THanks,
