Recruited for mosquito abatement- don't want the job! Posted by Kevin M [Email] (#1193) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Kevin M) on Wed, 16 Jul 2008 12:15:25 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hi all,
I'm losing sleep over this one. I have a oil burning B202 and I don't know what's going on. So, for all of you speculators out there (Ari, I know how you love to speculate- and you know B202s) have at it!
Engine: B202, 270K
Just redid the top-end in order to get rid of the smoke- well that didn't work out so well; valves lapped, guides checked, new seals, .008 removed to flatten and pressure test.
Replaced T25 with a pro rebuild for the same reason- same results.
Check valve is functional and installed correctly.
Crankcase breather hose is clear.
Plugs: all light tan electrode and center, slight soot on the thread ring.
Yesterday, I pulled a compression test:
#1: 165D/190W
#2: 165D/190W
#3: 162D/185W
#4: 165D/188W
These look very good to me, altho there seems to be a debate on how many cycles to build this pressure, these reflect the max at 6-8.
I am cobbling up a bleed-down manifold this afternoon and when I get those numbers I'll repost.
So, with those numbers, is it rings? I talked to the rebuild shop foreman who did the work (35 years at the same shop) and there was nothing out with the guides, they replace the seals, I suppose a seal could be toast.
Turbo, I suppose that the seal could be bad?
Ok, have at it and I'll build my leak-down manifold.
Thanks to all.
Kevin
