I've done two, an 88 and a 97 9000.
This is certainly a DIY project if your somewhat handy....but doing your homework first is key.....read the slew of posts on this site and the Quasimotors site narrative and pictures and you should be good to go.
A Tip.......with everything out you may want to replace the heater fan motor.....these motors really rust up badly due to the aquarium area drain typically plugging (the drains are at bottom of aquarium, the rubber tends to stick together and prevent draining).
