What I mean about clutch not working right

Specifics: Most of the time it feels like a new clutch should. Light pressure takes it smoothly all the way through the throw and back. Sometimes, rarely, I feel a little vibration or glitch at the bottom, and it seems to have periods where it's slightly stiffer to push and at the bottom it sort of sticks -- which is why it feels like something is getting hung up on the boot. Then next time I drive it, it might be back to feeling fine.
Even if the rubber is mostly cosmetic (I suspect its function is to keep whatever small amount of dirt or other matter out of there) maybe the binding is the problem that affects the clutch.
