Hi John,
I think the Hella FF300 will go into the stock fog light holes and might look OK. They are about the same dimensions, albeit a different shape. But if I found some way to fair them in so they looked more built in it would be okay and the light pattern would be fine. I think they could also be recessed into the grille below the bumper.
I had the FF75s on my wife's former Exploder and you're right, they would look terrible in the stock fog location on a Saab. But I also had FF75 driving lights in the grille of the Exploder and that worked very well. Both the fog and driving beams on those were very good on that car.
It is probably better just to buy some E-codes for the headlights and do something to improve the fogs, which I find very useful in snow storms. How did you do Xenon low beams? Are they part of the E-code set up?
