Hi all,
My wife and I are new owners of a 1996 9000 CSE. We bought the car about 2 weeks ago from a dealer who specializes in used imports. The car checked out very well. Everything worked great: Ice cold AC, toasty heated seats, smooth transmission etc. A great car. And then...

About a week after we got the car we had a very heavy rain and some strange things started to happen. We were driving to dinner in this driving rain and all of a sudden only luke warm air was blowing from the vents even on HI, and I noticed that the temp guage was very low (hovering around 6:30 on the clock). The heated seats also stopped working, but that is for another post. In any case, I figured that the thermostat was stuck and decided to change it.

I followed the directions for the thermostat replacement from Quasimotors. A pretty straight foward operation. When I was done I heated up the engine and checked the heat. It was working great! Cool, I thought I was done, the heat was working, so I cleaned up and called it a day. I did not think to test the A/C as is was working fine the day before.

A few days later it my wife was driving to work. The weather was hot, so she turned on the A/C to cool down, nothing but hot air blew from the vents. So the A/C is not working. Could I have screwed something up when I replaced the thermostat?

The A/C compressor is running, the clutch seems to engage just fine.
I have performed the recalibration test and no faults were reported. I pulled off the aquarium cover and checked to see if the arm that controls the heat flap was in good order and it is. I am at a loss here. The only thing I can think of is that somehow I screwed something up with the thermostat installation.

Any help or thoughts on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Thomas
