Oh, I totally agree. That was just a tangent in that I think I would have to change my car's title which clearly states "blue" as the car's color. I've thought about it for awhile and I've always wondered about that aspect of repainting a car.
I want to do it right, and I'm very DIY minded, so I would probably proposition one of my friends who does classic car restoration for help, or a local recommendation. I wouldn't want anyone to be able to discern that the car had been painted, which involves removing all trim and getting to the interior pieces. I think I'm most apprehensive about doing it because I'd probably prefer my dying stock finish over a shoddy job. No offense to whoever uses Maaco, but I don't have one local, and in general I don't trust national chains to do anything right.
In a perfect world I'd be able to garage this car, buy the equipment, learn the correct method and do the whole thing myself. Unfortunately, this is my only means of transportation and it's getting cold and rainy and nearing winter. I don't have a garage either.
