Lights? Posted by Ari [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: ABS Pump motor dead?, weston, Thu, 2 Oct 2008 13:13:48 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Are the ABS and Brake Fluid lights on? When you first started the car, those lights should have come on, and then gone off after a while (30 seconds to a minute).
If you have no brake boost due to no or low ABS pressure, this should turn on both the ABS and Brake Fluid lights.
If those lights never came on, you might have a problem with the limit switches, or the fuses. Even a fuse problem should light the ABS light. But if the limit switch is saying the pressure is OK, the ABS pump won't turn on.
Let the car sit for a few hours. Check the brake fluid level. It should be ABOVE the FULL line. Start the car. Do you get ABS and Brake Fluid lights? Do you see the fluid in the reservoir drop down? That's a sign the ABS pump is running.
If the lights don't come on, the pump won't either. So don't sweat the pump until you figure out the lights.
