There's quite a few degrees of movement at TDC that the crackshaft can move either way with no noticable movement with piston travel. This is the arc curve of the crank rod and piston as is moves past the top to start pulling the piston downward.. Check for exact TDC mark on the crankshaft pulley. Just setting the piston to the top can be a few degrees off.
