How nasty is it to do the balance chain, guides, and cog with the engine still in the car? I REALLY don't want to pull the engine, because I just redid the whole AC system (new everything) and don't want to crack all that open if I can help it.
Thoughts?
I am trying to figure out ALL the parts I need to do everything I need/want to do in one big shot. For example, the instructions say you need to unbolt the motor mounts to move things around sometimes, so I will do new mounts, likely a new water pump, etc.
But now we are into 500-600 bucks worth of parts. I just don't want to go overboard for no reason.
What is the worst thing that could happen? The Balance shafts make lots of extra noise?
I find it hard to believe the chain will just plain break, but who knows...
