It has been my non-statistically significant experience that the newer cars seem to go through ignition switches. I don't know of many folks with '95 or newer cars that still have the original ignition switches.
Of course, check your battery connections, but if the engine is cranking, those are fine. If the engine cranks but you get no dash lights, it's usually the ignition switch.
