Ummm...YES it's quite important!
This is the bearing support bracket for the drive shaft on the RH side. Without it you can cause damage to the RH CV axle or worse you will damage the differential in the auto transmission. The RH companion flange rides in a bearing inside this bracket.
Also, if this bracket is gone the engine is not attached to the right rear motor mount. This can also cause vibrations or even damage to either drive axle as the engine/transmission won't be seated correctly in the engine compartment.
