Well, I appreciate all of the advice I"m getting. I tried using a more legitimate "power bleeder", one that put about 25 PSI of suction on the bleeder and found that whenever the clutch was brought back up, that the pressure went down by 10lbs and that air entered the system. Also, it looks like fluid is leaking out of the slave itself.
So, it appears that the slave might itself be faulty - hence the leaking fluid below the transmission during this process.
This might explain how air is leaking in/pressure escaping while the pedal is brought back up. And, of course, no pressure/push back at the clutch pedal.
Looks like I'm burning up on AAA tow and the car is off to the garage :(
