I will try and be brief.
92 9000CS, turbo, auto tranny, rebuilt engine, 95k miles (really). Bought from my mechanic who works on Saabs, VWs and Audi. Trustworthy guys...
Anyway it started to display shifting problems. Mostly down shifting at lights...stuttering and dieing. That kind of thing.
If you put the shifter in "1", car drives strong, starts fine.
In "2" it up shifts and down shifts just fine.
In "3" it will up shift into 3rd but doesn't down shift properly.
In "D" it became a little schitzophrenic and shifted in strange places and had racing/lugging problems at lights.
The tranny made NO noise at all, and again in "1" or "2" it drove strong and find.
Shop dropped the pan and said, and I quote, there were "parts of the transmission" in the pan. It was intimated that I would likely need a new tranny in the phone message I got late Friday.
OK, so my question is fairly simple: are there any "parts" that could end up in the pan that would be reparable or am I really toast?
