No breakage at all...Used often, exposed to trunk items slamming 'em around, 100+ degrees to below 0. Never an issue. Maybe the older Saab branded units or CDC 635s had issues.
Agree with the memory card/flash drive/iPod theory though...why have mechanical units with a max of about 8 hours of music when one can have weeks of music with no need for burning CDs? Not to mention the newest stock headunits are now 11 years old...not conducive to even marginally good sound quality compared to current stuff.
