Crank Position Sensor? Vapor Lock? 1. A pre-1994 car dying when hot is the classic manifestation of a bad crank position sensor. If this happens again, try to spray some water on the CPS to bring the temp down - if the car fires right back up, you found the source of the problem.
How hot was it outside? Vapor lock is an problem with cars of old; the fuel in the fuel line vaporizes, forming "bubbles" - all of the sudden the car won't run. A combination of high temps and high elevation (low air pressure) may cause this issue.
