rotor warping is "highly unlikely" on normal road cars, according to many sources, even under heavier braking. improperly torqued wheels, however, puts uneven pressure on the rotor, and under heavy braking when everything heats up like crazy, the rotor may bend itself accordingly. I haven't had warping problems since purchasing a good torque wrench a few years ago.
I conclude with this rather bold statement: assuming the above is true, tire shops, however concerned about liability as they may be, are directly affecting the ubiquitous rotor-warping problem in our country (world?).
