A/C drier: what a miserable job!!! Posted by JerseySaab [Email] (#666) [Profile/Gallery] (more from JerseySaab) on Wed, 29 Jun 2011 11:59:51 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Don't want to bore everyone to tears with more of my A/C woes - in brief, I talked to an experienced A/C pro, first thing out of his mouth was "you've got a blockage in that system." He also said the primary suspect is the 15-year-old drier, that no way should it be left in there.
The people who described this as the worst job they've ever done on one of these cars were not exaggerating. Everything is in the way. It almost would be easiest to pull the engine first!
As an unexpected bonus the washer fluid bottle started leaking. When I started loosening the nut holding the drier bracket in place I did not realize it was screwed onto one of the rods going into that bottle, it rotated around and now there's a nice leak to patch.
I'm giving up on it for today, need a stubby wrench to take off the fitting going into the drier's side, no room to swing a standard-length wrench. Also I have had no luck taking apart the connector for the pressure switch wiring. Enough for one day. (Oh, I also replaced the blower motor earlier today, that was a piece of cake in comparison!)
Will pick up a suitable wrench and work on it some more over the weekend...
