Actually I checked everything pretty closely when the problem first appeared and couldn't see any issues. But I'll check again.
At this point I'm fairly convinced it's the wheels, since the problem doesn't occur with my winter wheels. Although that's sort of an apples-to-oranges comparison since the winter wheels are steel.
The irony of all this is I've got 4 complete sets of Audi wheels+tires that have the same 4x108 bolt pattern as the 9000 but won't fit because the center hole is smaller! Aargh.
Luckily there's someone on c-list selling a set of Aero wheels nearby for a semi-reasonable price, hopefully those will fix my problem.
