Since the CEL light works and you have a '95, you can check for fault codes. A document that explains how to check and interpret OBD1 codes is at the Townsend site. The document is for '93 models with the Trionic system, and I think you have the same system. I've linked the document below. If you have a fault code it may or may not provide a useful clue.
What if the pump is working normally but there isn't enough pressure at the fuel rail? What could be obstructing the flow of fuel? I can think of two candidates, a clogged fuel filter and a bad fuel pressure regulator. I haven't heard of a fuel filter so clogged the engine can't start. Have you tested the fuel pressure regulator? You can find posts here (use the search window) that explain how.
