There is a good chance whatever happened to kink the tube also cracked the white fitting at the fuel pump. Check for a leak there immediately after starting the pump. The fuel pump fitting is fragile and cracks easily in the corner of the "L". Any undue stress on the fuel line or fitting can cause it to crack.
