Not sure if they're chrome plated or SS, but the slider pins on the rear calipers on my backup '96 9000 were evidently installed when a P.O. had rebuilt calipers put on. I can't remove them!
I have the special 7mm hex bit for the original pins. These ones have instead 6mm or 1/4" hex holes, and it isn't enough to carry the torque I'd need to get these slider pins back out, here in the rust belt.
When I bought the car I was going through it and tho okay meat on the rear pads I thought to replace them with new. However, when I got to the slider pins I had to temporarily give up.
7 mm bit definitely won't fit in, 1/4" fits but a bit too loose and slips past when you get to really putting pressure on. Good enough to install them but after a few years use, good luck getting them back out.
When I really need to I'll think of something, maybe have to replace calipers, mounting bracket and all with some from a junkyard car.
