MAP Sensor problem??? Posted by cgwiz [Email] (#1128) [Profile/Gallery] (more from cgwiz) on Wed, 19 Nov 2014 05:51:34 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
'97 CSE automatic, 172,000 miles. Have been having a 'surging' issue on cold mornings (boost pressure swinging up and down on moderate acceleration), but cleared up as engine temp came up. This morning, with an air temp of 17 degrees F, noticed that on the expressway the boost gage was gently swinging up and down when on level road, slightly more noticeable on long upgrades (about a 5-7 second cycle). MPG readout went down as boost gage went up, MPG's went up as boost gage went down, so not a gage issue. This morning was the first time this year that the air temp has remained below 20 degrees on my 75 mile commute. Mechanic friends (unfamiliar with Saabs) suggested MAF sensor, but as I understand it, this car uses a MAP sensor instead. Does this sound like a plausible explanation for this problem?
