I've had the same 1993 Aero since 1996 and it is an amazing all around capable car. When it came out the TCS was hi-tech and many Saab dealers lacked the skills to repair it, not to mention many independents - lack of skills in mechanics was the main issue when the system was newish.
In 2023 it is a very simple system and if you have reasonable DIY skills and access to Tech2 or ISAT the system is easy to repair. Most parts are out there, though may take some time to get them.
I have had exactly one issue with TCS, which was fixed in an Italian Saab dealership in ten minutes. Yes, you do need to recalibrate the system if it sits for a long-time unused or replace components.
If the bodywork is excellent, there is nothing stopping a full engine/gearbox/ partial wiring loom swap over to have a working 9000, as a plan B.
