What I would do.....:Add the APC valve. Get a decent upgrade software, not necessarily Abbott...set base boost to whatever the tuner wants it to be (0,4bar).
Dont mess with the base boost level. A low base boost level will not compromise the spoolup and boost. This is controlled by the software. Make sure the base boost level is the correct one for the software you use.
There are good reasons for NOT allowing full torque on the lower gears.
Maxboost and all other boostlevels are controlled by the ECU. Think of the "APC part" of Trionic as a torqe shaper ("boost shaper"), more than just a system for damage controll. Boost build up is, and should be, controlled by the ECU (and therefore alterable simply by reprogramming the ECU).
The ECU uses the base boost level as a reference level for its regulation. If you mess with the base boost level, you will only make life harder for the ECU and its adaption processes.
