Hey Jeff, These guys give good 9000 advice, but you're the last person who I'd worry about switching to 9000's from 900's. I bought my G/F an 86 9kt, which runs just fine, kinda fun to drive, lots of electronic goodies, etc. I am trying to like it. She is in absolute *LOVE* with it, even after the sweet 900T's I've bought her, which makes me happy. Myself though, I guess I just like the 900's better. In fact, I love OG900's, and just bought my first SPG last week for $450 (nother story). From what I gather, the tranny is a snap compared to the 900 job, as you don't have to pull the engine. As I mentioned here on a recent post, the radiator replacement isn't even like work, the brakes are easy (at least in the 86). Something weird though, about not being able to check/change the tranny fluid. I also don't like the way the 9000 shifts, (it's really tight and all, I just don't like it). Another thing I can't stand is that the windshield wipers leave a major (4 or 5 inch on driver side) un-wiped part, making for a huge blind spot against the left side of the windshiled if you live in a snowy/crappy region. I solved this a little by moving the wiper arm up a notch or two, but now it doesn't rest all the way down. I guess that's the trade off I'll have to make. One other thing I miss about 900's when I'm in the 9K is that the 9000 engine is so damn quiet, whereas when my 900's Turbo spools up, I GET TO HEAR IT! One of my favorite sounds, kinda like the gurgling exaust. The only time i ever hear the 9000's turbo is when I'm driving uphill next to a wall or barrier, and the sound reflects. I have to say that it is much better in the snow than I expected though, and I'm impressed, which is hard to be after owning 900's. If I can think of anything else, I'll let you know. By the way, I like your site, and your car, and your stories!
