If you are that handy with the 900 you won't have any problems with the 9000. Most everything is easier to get to, especially the oil filter! Wear replacement items are a snap. No front end adjustments on the 9000. Use factory recommended maintenance and parts and you will be fine. I must say in all truth however, the 900 is a more fun car to drive if you are of small stature IMHO but 9000s are much more comfortable and quiet.
