Here in Seattle, 25F is a damn cold day, and even a little bit unusual (last time I checked, average low temperature in winter was above the freezing point). My starting voltages are typically 11.5V or higher, from sitting overnight. I almost never see under 11.0V, and often see over 12.0V. I did notice that my voltage readings across the board, ie engine off, engine on, idle or crusing rpm, went up when I replaced my two main ground cables, as well as put on new battery terminals. Readings jumped up about a half volt! Helps to keep those terminals as clean as possible, and can't hurt to use a material that doesn't corrode - gold seems to be the most popular for battery and wire terminals, and hey, it looks good too. :) You don't have to go wild like I did, and after only four years, your ground cables may still be ok (and '87 seems to just have been a bad year for wiring). At the very least though, clean the battery terminals and all the ground terminals which come together behind the battery.
