There was a lengthy discussion on this BB a month or two ago regarding the fan controller for the ACC. The fan speed is controlled by a special transistor which is prone to failure, and the symptoms can be either no fan speed or stuck on high. Mine ('88 9kt) is stuck on high, and I ordered a transistor ($5!) which will come soon and I'll stick it in and hopefully have a good report to give. I believe Lu provided commentary on that thread, so if you find one of his postings and look back in the More from Lu list, you might find it. BTW, Radio Shack was unable to even understand what I was talking about, but a specialty electronics shop knew right away. So skip Radio Shack.
Also BTW, if your ACC is still good, it should provide either warm or cool air from the vents as you travel at speed, depending on the temperature setting on the ACC. This should help you decide whether or not to replace the whole thing. Also, will it turn on the AC compressor? I heard the whole unit is pricey.
